Dennis Quaid and his wife are suing the drug company that makes Heparin, because they want to prevent what happened to their kids to ever happen again.

The update on the twins that they have since recovered and everything looks good.

It has finally been revealed to Access Hollywood why the Quaid babies ended up in the hospital that fateful day....But now, it’s finally been revealed why the babies were brought to the hospital in the first place, just two weeks after being born.

In a candid interview, Blake Buffington, the brother of Dennis Quaid’s wife Kimberly, spoke with People about his sister’s terrifying ordeal.

“One of the twins had an infection near their belly button, near where the umbilical cord was and that was the beginning of this process,” People magazine’s senior editor J.D. Heyman told Access Hollywood after the interview with Buffington. “The kids are still in the hospital. They are still receiving intensive care.”

After being admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for a common staph infection, which turned potentially deadly, the twins were hooked up to IVs that were flushed with 1,000 times the correct dosage of Heparin – a blood thinner.

But as the less-than-a-month old babies continue to battle for survival, it seems their birth itself was nothing short of a miracle for Quaid and his wife Kimberly.

The Quaids have enough to think about without having to worry about seeing their kids! A crush of paparazzi were on the tails of Dennis Quaid and Kimberly Buffington to the point they had to get help from the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept., just so they could visit their kids.

They have asked for privacy...so why can't the pap listen for once??

The chief medical officer at Cedars Sinai issued a statement regarding the accidental heparin overdose of Dennis and Kimberley Quaid's newborn twins saying that the incident was a "preventable error." He also said that the babies are being monitored, but additional tests "indicated no adverse effects from the higher concentration of heparin." The Quaids thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Hopefully the babies will make a full recovery soon.
